4-DAY DAR ES SALAAM TO MIKUMI SGR SAFARI & MAASAI CULTURAL JOURNEY

Your safari adventure starts with a comfortable transfer from your hotel to the SGR train station in Dar es Salaam. From there, enjoy a smooth, modern rail journey through the countryside to Morogoro. Upon arrival in Morogoro, your dedicated safari guide will greet you and drive you straight to Mikumi National Park. Once park registration is complete, head directly into the wilderness for your initial game drive.

The first game drive is designed as an introduction to Mikumi’s wildlife and landscapes. As you explore the park, keep an eye out for elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, impalas, buffaloes, and other wildlife. Depending on the time of arrival and animal activity, you may also have the opportunity to see predators such as lions.

As the afternoon comes to an end, you will exit the park and proceed to your accommodation outside the park. Enjoy dinner, relax after your journey, and spend the night at your camp.

Start your day with breakfast before heading out for a comprehensive game drive across Mikumi. Today is dedicated to exploring the park’s prime wildlife hotspots for an unforgettable game-viewing experience. Your professional guide will navigate through open plains and riverine habitats, home to thriving populations of elephants, giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, and hippos. With a bit of luck, you'll also track down apex predators like lions.

Around midday, you will enjoy a picnic lunch in the park, allowing you to continue enjoying the natural surroundings without having to leave the wildlife area. The afternoon continues with further game viewing and photography.

In the late afternoon, you will leave the park and return to your camp for dinner and a relaxing overnight stay.

Your third day begins with an early morning game drive in Mikumi National Park during the cooler hours when wildlife is most active. You will explore new tracks across the Mkata Floodplain, looking for predators returning from night hunts and large herds of herbivores gathering at waterholes.

After a morning packed with wildlife encounters, you will head back to camp for lunch and an afternoon of relaxation at your lodge or camp facilities. In the late afternoon, you can opt for a brief sunset game drive or relax by the campfire before enjoying dinner.

After breakfast at the camp, you will visit a traditional Maasai boma (village) located near Mikumi. During this cultural visit, you will learn about the Maasai way of life, traditional customs, medicine, and social structure. You will have the opportunity to witness traditional jumping dances, tour their homes, and interact directly with the villagers.
