4-DAY WILDEBEEST CALVING SEASON SAFARI

After breakfast, depart from Arusha and drive to Tarangire National Park, one of Tanzania’s most scenic and wildlife-rich parks. The park is famous for its large elephant herds, ancient baobab trees, seasonal rivers, and diverse wildlife.

Upon arrival, begin your morning game drive, exploring the park’s beautiful landscapes and searching for elephants, giraffes, zebras, wildebeest, buffaloes, antelopes, and a variety of bird species. With some luck, you may also encounter predators such as lions and leopards. Enjoy a picnic lunch in the bush before continuing with an afternoon game drive. Continue exploring Tarangire’s diverse habitats while enjoying the spectacular scenery and abundant wildlife.

In the late afternoon, depart Tarangire and drive towards Karatu, located near the Ngorongoro Conservation Area. Upon arrival, check in at your lodge, enjoy dinner, and relax after an exciting first day of safari.

Travel & Activity: After breakfast, set out with your private safari guide for a full day of wildlife exploration in Ndutu. The day is dedicated to experiencing the wildebeest calving season at its most active. You may witness newborn calves taking their first steps, large nursery herds moving across the plains, and predators such as lions, cheetahs and hyenas following the herds. Your guide will use their knowledge of the area and wildlife behavior to position you for rewarding sightings while respecting park regulations and wildlife. A picnic lunch will be enjoyed in the bush, allowing you to maximize your time in the field before continuing with afternoon game viewing and returning to camp later in the day.

Travel & Activity: After breakfast, depart from your accommodation and enjoy a final game drive through the Ndutu area as you make your way towards Karatu. Explore the scenic plains and seasonal wetlands while searching for wildebeest, zebras, gazelles, elephants, giraffes, hyenas, lions, cheetahs, and other wildlife. During the calving season, the area can be especially active, offering excellent opportunities to observe newborn animals and the predators that follow the herds. Enjoy a picnic lunch during the game drive before continuing your journey towards Karatu. Upon arrival, check in at your accommodation, relax, and enjoy the evening after an exciting wildlife experience in Ndutu.

Distance & Drive: Approximately 220 km / around 4 hours of driving, depending on road and safari conditions.

Travel & Activity: After an early breakfast, depart from your Lorge at Karatu and travel toward the Ngorongoro Crater. Descend into the crater for an extended game-viewing experience on the crater floor. The Ngorongoro Crater is renowned for its remarkable concentration of wildlife and offers opportunities to see species such as lions, elephants, buffaloes, hippos, zebras, wildebeest and numerous bird species. A picnic lunch will be served in the crater at a designated location while you continue to enjoy the spectacular surroundings. Later in the afternoon, ascend from the crater and begin the drive to Arusha City for your final drop-off, marking the end of your 4-day wildebeest calving safari.
